Apartment Review for Hillcrest Woods - Indianapolis, IN

I moved in here because of a limited budget, and have regretted it ever since. Grossly incompetent management staff that doesn't care at all - communication with them is difficult, they don't follow up with residents, maintenance requests get lost, and they immediately get defensive and rude anytime you ask a question; staff members determine the office hours rather then following the hours posted on the door, often closing the office for long lunches, personal projects or simply show up late or leave early. Maintenance is terrible: it took nearly a month to fix the defective garbage disposal in my apartment, and a week to replace a damaged smoke detector in the hallway. Other damage, like broken railings and burner-out street lights, take ages to repair or are ignored entirely. The grounds are littered with trash, potholes are 'repaired' with loose gravel. In addition, hallway smoke detectors have been vandalized several times, and noisy kids run around and scream at all hours. Their are also several large, aggressive dogs on the property that clearly pose a risk to children and adults. And hardly anyone picks up after their dogs, leaving an unsanitary mess for everyone. The model I was shown was reasonably nice for the price, but the 'real' apartments feature shoddy workmanship, terrible paint and cheap fixtures/appliances. Insulation and weather stripping is practically nonexistent. If you are even thinking of moving here - don't! Their are better place that cost only a bit more, and I can hardly wait to move out when my lease expires.
