DO NOT RENT AT LAKESHORE
Review Date: 9/16/2009 Reviewer: Anonymous
DO NOT RENT AT LAKESHORE! I would not move into these apartments unless you want to get taken advantage of. My roommate and I lived on this property for 2 years, never a late payment. I made the move to buy my first house, and the instant I told Corey Clayton (Property Manager) this, it was all downhill from there. He blatantly LIED about the fact that you may receive 1 carpet cleaning, if requested, for each year you live at Lakeshore. When we inquired about this PRIOR to moving out, he said they did not do that. When we vacated, with a pet, we were charged a ridiculous amount to replace the carpeting (we were EXTREMELY clean individuals) saying that it required replacement. We have written proof that they do, in fact, provide this annual carpet cleaning to residents. And Corey officially admitted to it, once we had moved out, which meant that he said an outward lie in order to get us to pay for this. Completely unethical and rude behavior. And guess what? THEY DO NOT REPLACE THEIR CARPETING FOR NEW TENANTS EVEN AFTER A PET HAS LIVED IN THAT APARTMENT FOR 1+ YEARS! That is disgusting and unethical and cheap. You may be moving into an apartment that once had 1 or more pets living in it. Therefore, the carpet may look clean, but I can guarantee you it's infested with general bacteria from owning a pet, along with pet hair. We were blatantly lied to about this, along with other things. He refused to work with us on vacating early, for the benefit of the property to prepare the apartment for the next tenant. Instead, we got charged an extra month's rent (in addition to all costs that come to purchasing your first home) and are now stuck with quite a hefty fine for the carpet. I'm curious as to WHY they require you to pay a pet deposit, in addition to a monthly pet fee? It apparently didn't cover the replacement of the carpeting. Just beware - Corey is money-hungry and unwilling to come to a compromise, or any sort of agreement, with his tenants. Regardless if you've been a quiet tenant who always paid their rent on time, make sure you have EVERYTHING in writing, and covered all bases before vacating. Not to mention the safety issue. A girl was held at GUN POINT outside of our apartment building and we were NEVER INFORMED OF THIS. Instead, we were stunned when our keys didn't get us into the building; we were forced to go to the office to ask what was wrong, and were told that our locks were changed. No further information. We found out from the victim what had happened. Also entire carports, including resident’s vehicles were burned down to the ground earlier last year. Residents were never formally informed of how/why this happened. Moral of my long rant is this -- there are plenty of other north side apartments that are newer, nicer, and more fair in their business ethics. This property is not that great and you'll have to deal with crime issues, as well as unethical and dishonest property management. DO NOT LIVE HERE!!!!!!! |
