Playing catch-up with an aging building - not safe
Review Date: 12/30/2005
Reviewer: Anonymous

This place is located in a sketchy neighborhood, for sure. There are always shady rif-raf loitering around the streets. Although, I feel fairly safe living high up in my apartment. I just never go outside. The Starbucks across the street is an oasis, however.

It seems like they're always playing catch-up with trying to get things fixed. The building is old and falling apart. Constant plumbing problems - one time the lobby was completely flooded, and there have been several occasions where the water has been turned off for days and we've had no hot water. They try to get things fixed quickly, and they've done a decent job, but then a few days later something else breaks.

The carpet in my apartment is stained in several areas, and the carpet in the hallway is disgraceful - dirty and stained everywhere.

The painting is really shotty in my apartment - it's like they spray-painted and got paint all over the windows and mirrors. Half-ass job.

The exercise room is a joke - nothing works so forget about that.

The laundry is overpriced and the dryers don't work well.

The neighbors are very diverse, and actually I think most of the residents are pleasant. It's a nice mix of students, senior citizens and professionals - with a little rif-raf thrown in.

I think the management is trying to improve, and they try to be professional, but it's a losing battle in this aging building.

Overall, this place is overpriced and sub-par. And definitely not in a safe area.
